​Very few employers are in complete compliance with all of the government regulations associated with offering an employer sponsored benefits plan.  Almost all group plans with as few as 2 employees are required provide employees with supplemental plan documents as required under ERISA and the ACA, as well as tax reporting requirements mandated by the IRS.  Although traditionally audits and related fines have been rare, they have become increasingly trendy in recent years as the government mandates continue to amass combined with the government's increasing need for revenue.
